REGISTRATION and TRAVEL ARRANGEMENTS


Several "travel packages" have been constructed in conjunction with our travel agent Bentours International. These combine travel from Oslo or Helsinki to Kirkenes (where we will join MS Midnatsol), symposium registration and full participation, accommodation and all meals on board and (if required) return to Oslo, and have the advantage that Bentours has been able to arrange significant discounts.

The early registration fee (if received by December 31, 2003) is $ AU 550. From January 1, 2004, the fee will be $ AU 650. Note that the registration fee is included in the costs of the packages described below. Note also that all prices throughout this web site are quoted in Australian dollars ($ AU) unless otherwise stated. Currency conversion is available via the "Currency" link to the left.

Students will pay a reduced registration fee of $ AU 150. A letter from the supervisor or other senior faculty member should be supplied.

Four packages are available for travel to Kirkenes, to join MS Midnatsol:


Starting from Oslo:
  • Package 1A:     One night in Oslo (April 18); flight Oslo-Kirkenes; transfers.
  • Package 1B:     Flight Oslo-Kirkenes; one night in Kirkenes (April 18); transfers.
  • Package 2:       Flight Oslo-Tromsų; two nights in Tromsų (April 17 and 18); flight Tromsų-Kirkenes; transfers.

Starting from Helsinki:
  • Package 3:       Flight Helsinki-Ivalo; bus to Saariselkä; two nights in Saariselkä (April 17 and 18); transfers.

One package is offered for returning from Bergen to Oslo:

(There is a train from Bergen to Oslo departing at 3:58 pm on Saturday 24 April which passengers from Midnatsol would be able to take. However, it arrives in Oslo at 10:30 pm, which may be too late for international departures.)

The standard price of $ AU 2,397 (twin share) or $ AU 2,792 (single) is based on Package 1A or 1B from Oslo to Kirkenes and a grade I2 (inside two-berth) cabin. It terminates on arrival in Bergen. The prices shown are for a complete package comprising:

  • accommodation for one or two nights, according to the package chosen;
  • transport, Oslo or Helsinki to Kirkenes;
  • registration for CHT-04, including participation in all technical sessions, a book of Abstracts, a copy of the Proceedings CD and a welcome reception;
  • accommodation on MS Midnatsol, Kirkenes to Bergen, in the cabin of choice and all meals on board.

Registration for CHT-04 and reservation of cabins on MS Midnatsol should be made by the completion of the Booking form and payment of a combined registration/accommodation charge to Bentours International.

CHT-04 participants wishing to make variations to any of these packages are also asked to contact Bentours International.

Cabins of various grades and prices being held for CHT-04 participants, as described on the Tours and Cabins page.   Cabins may be reserved by payment of a deposit of $ AU 330 per person. The balance will be due two months before travel. Full payment of the combined registration and accommodation charge will be due on December 31, 2003 to ensure obtaining the cabin of choice.  After this date, unreserved cabins will be released for general sale, and preferred cabins may not be available.   Full payment must in any case be completed by February 15, 2004 to confirm travel and accommodation and to guarantee presentation and publication of papers in the Proceedings CD.
